ORIEL
The Rooftop Terrace
ORIEL occupies the full breadth of the rooftop, sixteen floors above Rose Avenue. The name comes from the architectural term for a projecting window or gallery — a place from which to look outward. Here, looking outward means looking west: across the Kilimani tree canopy, past the ridgeline, toward Ngong Hills.
The terrace spans 280 square metres. Dedicated BBQ stations line the western edge, positioned for the hour when the light changes — that interval between five and seven in the evening when the sun flattens the city into horizontal bands of gold. Open-air seating, ambient lighting, and a covered bar area extend the usable hours past sunset.
At this elevation, the air is different. The street noise of Rose Avenue is sixteen floors below. What reaches the terrace is wind, bird call from the river corridor, and the low hum of a city that is somewhere else. The view extends to the Ngong Hills on clear days — thirty kilometres of uninterrupted sightline that no neighbouring building can obstruct.
ORIEL is not a communal barbecue area in the way most Nairobi developments use the term. It is a destination within the building — the place residents go when the evening calls for something that is not indoors. Friday dinners, weekend gatherings, or simply the quiet act of watching the city from above.
